The worst team determines to enter the playoffs

Is it a joke? Nope. So they alleged, and they are implementing progressively their plan since they have new management, coaches and star players.

Over the past few years, Matt Millen turned the Detroit Lions into the worst team in NFL history. Lions’ 0-16 record made any fans helplessly sad. After that, Ford fired coach Rod Marinelli and promoted Martin Mayhew and Tom Lewand to lead the front office. Jim Schwartz’s appearance brings a ray of hope to the team. The Lions deeply believe that they won’t repeat the same failure as the last season.

“It seems like we always have hope this time of year, but things are really different,” Jason Hanson who played 18 seasons for the Detroits said. “The turnover has brought in a new coach, new front office and a lot of new players. All of that makes it easier to have hope.”

Quarterback Matt Stafford, the No. 1 draft pick overall in April, signed 5-year contract worth $78 dollars.

The offensive line is weak side of Lions. It has always been so. But if Stafford or Culpepper is given time to throw, running back Kevin Smith(FSY) room to run, and receiver Calvin Johnson an opportunity to shine, the result would be entirely different. Furthermore, the Lions addressed each area of their defense, adding linebackers Larry Foote (FSY) and Julian Peterson, (FSY) cornerbacks Phillip Buchanon (FSY) and Anthony Henry, (FSY) along with defensive tackle Grady Jackson (FSY).

Schwartz insists the best players who are both physically and mentally ready will start. He tells each player to learn to respect others, even he is just waiter. “I’m not a coach who is going to say the only thing that matters is what you do Sunday between the lines,” Schwartz said.

This is a big challenge for Schwartz to change the situation. But he does not seem to fear test. “Only through adversity are great men made,” he said. “Think about the great presidents in the history of the United States, there were all presidents that served during times of great conflict or turmoil.”

Under the lead of Schwartz, Lions may bring audience unexpected performance this year.
