The football shirt has long since become not only clothing to wear but it has become an advertisement so to speak to represent ones team. You can choose the color of the shirt so that it matches something else in the teams uniform and your players become color coordinated.
Teams also put their logo and name on the shirt. They also have the team players name and number placed on the shirt, usually on the back so that you can identify each individual player. You also have the option of a long sleeve or a short sleeve shirt depending on what you have your team mates wear.
Football shirts have become a collectors item for sports fans. If you are a heavy duty fan than you may purchase a shirt and never even wear it. Someone might put it in a frame if the player is famous and hang it on the wall for display. Another person may buy one and just pack it away with hopes that it will be worth something one day if the player is ranked high enough.
You can purchase a football shirt that is not authentic so to speak and use it for everyday use to support the team you root for. When going to a game you may wear your shirt to represent the team or even just a particular player that is your favorite. This way you can stick out in the crowd if spectators are in the stands for the other side.
Many teams, such as in the little leagues, will have sponsor logos on the shirt so that they can advertise. This gives the company that donated money to the team an opportunity to get there name out there and also shows that they represent the team.
Teams also place the team logo on the shirts that represents them. It can be placed anywhere on the shirt that they want since most of the time team shirts are specially made by a company for the team. You can design them to whatever specifications that you need.
The style and colors that teams wear can also change. Most die hard fans will try to keep up to date with this. If a team was a winner with and old style shirt, that could make the value of the shirt go even higher in value in a shorter amount of time.
The football shirt represents a team in many different ways. The color, style, material and even whether it is short or long sleeve, all of these things say something about the team that you are cheering for. You may not like what they are wearing now but fear not, that could change in the blink of an eye.
