NFL Reinstates Michael Vick on Conditional Basis – Football Betting Online
Written by footballfan on July 28th, 2009
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reinstated the troubled quarterback Monday, alerting Vick that a return is possible if he takes the proper steps. If he does, Vick could be on the field as early as week six of the regular NFL Betting Season.
Vick’s return is conditional but he is free to practice with teams and take part in meetings should he sign with a team.
Vick, 29, can sign with a team at any time and has been cleared to practice and attend team meetings. He’s permitted to take part in all team activities except regular-season games until the sixth week, which begins Oct. 18.
He will be able to play in last two exhibition games and will be eligible for full reinstatement into the league by Week 6 of the regular season at the very latest–ESPN reports that Vick will apply for reinstatement as early as Week 1.
Goodell, though, is giving Vick a chance to return to the big show. The commissioner is known for tightening the rules for behavior and decorum among NFL players, making it known that the league will be filled with players willing to abide by Goodell’s law. But he has been lenient with troubled players determined to learn from their mistakes.
Seattle has been mentioned as a possible destination as head coach Jim Mora Jr. coached Vick in Atlanta.
The Seahawks are listed as 7-point favorites for their Week 1 regular season matchup against the St. Louis Rams.
