Carolina Panthers (0-2)
Delhomme knows a lot about ruining home openers, as the veteran is only two weeks removed from a meltdown of epic proportions against the Philadelphia Eagles.
The three-time playoff quarterback completed just 7-of-17 passes for 73 yards with five turnovers (four interceptions, one fumble) and three sacks absorbed in less than three quarters of action in what would become a 38-10 loss for the reigning NFC South champions.
Delhomme bounced back a bit last week when Carolina traveled to Atlanta, but the result on the scoreboard did not offer a renaissance for the gritty Cajun.
The Panthers were 28-20 losers at the Georgia Dome, overshadowing an acceptable 25-of-41, 308-yard, one-interception performance for Delhomme.
Delhomme can adjust his mentality to his normal state. Although Panthers have three more key players sidelined with injuries, they will try to improve passing attack.
Dallas Cowboys(1-1)
One week after having a career-best 353 passing yards and no turnovers in the Cowboys’ season-opening victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Romo had one of his worst games in one of the most visible settings of his career, completing just 13-of-29 passes for 127 yards. He did throw a 1-yard TD pass and ran for a 3-yard score. Romo threw three interceptions, and the Cowboys lost to Giants 31-33.
It’s a little ridiculous to blame Romo for Dallas’s failure. That sort of statement just shows that people have high expectations. Hopes are so high they are doomed to disappointment.
Romo will bounce back on Monday. I feel that he will because he doesn’t play two bad games in a row. Yes, I stand firmly behind Romo. His ability will bounce back.
